It’s has been more than 12 months since our previous stay with W Bali and return stays in my experience are inevitably problematic as sometimes your best memories are not realised on returning. Such anxiety has no basis at the W Bali from our 6 day stay in early December 2017 and to the contrary everything seemed to surpass our best memories. Despite the challenges thrown up by the volcanic spluttering of Agung, the W Bali treated us to an incredibly memorable stay once again. Having travelled extensively to hundred plus countries and stayed in more than twenty W branded hotels, and as a lifetime Platinum Starwood Member I consider myself somewhat of an aficionado of this SPG brand. Moreover I have suffered the worst of W’s in say New Orleans and New York and enjoyed the fun pampering of the best in cities like Singapore and Taipei. The W Bali is however on a whole new level and for me sets the benchmark with facilities, service, rooms, position etc and importantly for me as a more mature traveler avoiding being too irritatingly uber cool. The breakfasts are that good and would embarrass most St Regis’s. In fact I would place the breakfast offerings in the top three in the world only surpassed by perhaps the Vana Belle in Koh Samui and St Regis in Langkawi. Special mentions must be made of Rika (a star ambassador for the property) who facilitated every special request enhancing our stay and the always available and interested GM Craig.
